Marc Brandner

Marc Brandner, partner of SmartRiskSolutions, has served as an officer of the German Special Forces (KSK) in various command assignments in Germany and abroad. Most recently, he was entrusted with the personnel selection process and the training of the task forces in the KSK.

Since 2003, he has been successfully advising companies and organizations worldwide on security and crisis management issues. He holds a university degree in economics.

For several years, he helped establish and lead the security and crisis management of EUPOL in Afghanistan. He completed his EU certification in security management at the renowned Folke Bernadotte Academy in Sweden. He has also trained future members of international organizations at the Crisis Management Centre (CMC) in Kuopio, Finland.

He supports customers both in crisis prevention and in the architecture of holistic and seamless security management. In doing so, he has gained extensive experience across industries (including food, aviation, automotive, oil/natural gas and defense) and internationally. NGOs and the owners of well-known mid-sized companies are also regular consulting clients.

His experience includes crisis response in kidnapping, extortion, cyber crime, and threat cases that have occurred in Mexico, Nigeria, Afghanistan, South Africa, Syria, and the Ivory Coast, among others, as well as numerous European countries. He also actively supported the crisis management team of an industrial client during a multi-day hostage crisis staged by terrorists.

He is particularly interested in enabling customers to operate their own, functional crisis management structures and providing tailored training courses.
